Visit Tampa Bay Closes Strongest Fiscal Year

TAMPA, FL (Nov. 22, 2020) – Visit Tampa BayIt closes its fiscal year, setting a new standard in tourism development collections. The following hotel collections are available from September 2020 to September 2021. Visit Tampa BayThe year-end collections of $38.4 millions beat 2019 by 7.04%, according to reports 

Six Visit Tampa Bay’s 12 fiscal months reached never-before-seen levels, including its latest September collections which accomplished its first $3 million month totaling $3,241,979, a 17.44% increase over the previous record in October 2019.  

Even with an increased hotel inventory of over 2,500 more rooms and missing factors like international visitation, fiscal-year end hotel revenues skyrocketed to $642882,023, an 8.39% decline from the same period in record-breaking 2019. The fiscal year ended at 61.8%. This is a 13.15% rise versus 2020, and a 16.25% decrease over 2019.

With the new fiscal year in full swing, all signs point toward continued success. The first fiscal month saw steady hotel occupancy at 67%, compared to 64% for 2019. New product offerings, including the destination’s first five-star hotel property, the Tampa EDITION, continued development in Water Street and Midtown, and new attractions like Busch Gardens’ Iron Gwazi, will set the foundation for yet another memorable year for tourism in Hillsborough County.
