As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we’re putting the spotlight on local cafes and diners run by our friends in the LGBTQ community. Chef’s Kitchen discovered an unexpected way to make rice crispy treats – the “grown-up” method.
No Not what you think No ID required. Chef Trina Gregory-Propst’s secret move is to use refined brown butter to make the “not so marshmallow-y” treats.
Here is the chef’s recipe, “Funfetti Rice Krispie Treats,” courtesy of Se7en Bites in Orlando.
“Pride” Funfetti Reis Krispie treats
- 15 oz rice krispies
- 15 oz fruity pebbles
- 16 ounces mini marshmallows
- 7 ounces of brown butter
- 1/3 teaspoon kosher salt
- Mix the Rice Krispies and Fruity Pebbles in a large bowl.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan and cook “brown”, remove from heat and add marshmallows and “whisk” until everything is mixed; Add salt and mix.
- Add the puffed rice mixture and press into a greased pan or shape into balls. Or any shape!
