Create your own bar of chocolate in this Tampa dessert boutique

TAMPA, Fla. – You can’t go wrong with chocolate, can you?

The Cake Drip is a new sweet spot in Hyde Park Village. The DIY dessert boutique opened in March and offers unique experiences in the studio as well as a self-service kiosk if you want to take your delicious creations with you.

The decor is elegant and instagramable, with a floral wall and ball tub making great backdrops for photos. This is an ideal place for girls’ nights out or a date here in Tampa.

For the studio experiences, opt for DIY cake decorating or the chocolate tasting flight.

The cake decorating experience comes with a 6 inch three layer cake and lasts for an hour. You can choose to recreate one of the studio’s step-by-step designs or freestyle your own masterpiece. Work with fondant, frosting, sprinkles, candy, and more! Price starts at $ 75 for the experience plus a studio fee of $ 15 per person.

Cake kits are also available for takeout or roadside pickup.

The chocolate tasting flight gives you the opportunity to create your own chocolate bar. This is how it works:

  1. Choose your base (milk, white or dark chocolate) and choose your ingredients (40+ options)
  2. Pour your chocolate into the mold
  3. Coat your ingredients and flatten them together

While you wait for your bar to relax, enjoy a dessert platter of cheesecake, chocolate spoons, and strawberries. Then you get a dessert box of marshmallows, pieces of cake, and strawberries, plus chocolate and sprinkles to dip in. The tastings are $ 55 per person or $ 86 per couple.

All studio experiences come with free champagne, which is usually fun on the edge or in the glass, like cotton candy, edible flowers, or sprinkles.

Owners Faronda and Steven Davis wanted to bring a new concept to Hyde Park Village.

“There’s no other Tampa experience like this,” said Steven. “And from what we’ve learned, nowhere – in Florida or beyond – has there been an experience like The Cake Drip.”

However, this isn’t the first owner company in the business world – they have owned and operated children’s cooking schools for 13 years.

“We’re entrepreneurs at heart, that’s what we do,” said Steven. “Our daughter just turned 18, now she’s part of the team … it was a lot of fun.”

A second location for The Cake Drip is currently under construction on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. It will hopefully be open until June.

The Cake Drip is located at 1625 W Snow Circle, just behind Buddy Brew. The boutique is open from 6 p.m. from 9 p.m. and closed on Mondays for studio experiences. Reservations are strongly recommended and must be made after 6pm. To order online, click here.
